Welcome to my Website

Hi I’m Jenny Collard, an experienced UKCP registered Psychotherapist, Accredited DBT Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor. I offer a confidential service in Leicester (LE1) and Market Harborough (LE16)  for individuals and couples seeking access to private psychological therapies. I am also a Director of Rutland House Counselling & Psychotherapy Ltd which is a private psychological therapies clinic based in Leicester which offers services to self funding clients, insurance claims and provides therapies and consultancy to organisations.

How I work

In my private practice, I work predominately with adults wishing to engage in mid to long-term therapy with a view to understand underlying and/or historical causes to presenting problems. My therapeutic work focuses on working towards the creation and sustainability of behavioural change and modification to present life circumstances to bring about greater life satisfaction and reduce emotional turmoil.

I aim to work closely with my clients to establish a relationship in which we work together to understand why the client thinks, feels and behaves the way they do.  This is an exciting yet demanding journey which gives rise to self-insight and the possibility of choice and change.  This, I believe allows the client to move from who they have become towards who they want to be.

I also undertake private consultancy work for organisations who require psychological support for their staff teams or specialist support to aid managers in supporting mental health issues in the workplace.

My Training and Experience

My formal qualifications are:

  • MSc Integrative Psychotherapy (Relational Developmental)

  • BA (Hons) Creative Expressive Therapies

  • Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Diploma in Clinical Supervision

  • Level 4 Accreditation in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

I remain active and committed to continuing my professional development, keeping abreast of current research and attending professional seminars. My professional interests particularly focus upon working in creative ways to support people diagnosed with a personality disorder, educating and supporting friends and loved ones of people with a personality disorder, and working with high achievers and senior leaders to regulate the emotional toll of high stress work environments. I have come to find that many of my clients identify with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Narcissistic Personality (NPD), ADHD, Autism and Complex Trauma.

I have worked in various settings over the years including; NHS Forensic Mental Health services, International aid projects, Voluntary sector projects, University Higher Education Student Support Services and now as Director of the independent practice Rutland House Counselling & Psychotherapy Ltd. As such, I have a wealth of experience working with clients who present with various issues.

I hold full registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy,  my membership number is 2011161990 and you can view my membership profile here.

My Supervision Practice

For me, supervision is a working alliance between two professionals, or a group of professionals whereby supervisees offer an account of their work, reflect on it, receive feedback, and receive guidance if appropriate. The ultimate aim of the supervision is to protect clients/ service users by involving an impartial third party in the work of the professional and their client, helping to reduce the risk of serious oversight and helping the professional concerned to reflect on their own feelings, thoughts, behaviour and general approach with the client/ service user. I passionately believe that, like therapy, the most important factor in clinical supervision is the match between supervisor and supervisee. No supervisor is right for every practitioner so it is important that you take your time to choose the right supervisor for you or your organisation.

I supervise both trainee and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and art therapists. I also offer organisational supervision to staff who work within health and social care settings who are at risk of burn-out, compassion fatigue, over-work and stress.

I do not supervise practitioners working with children.
